The Olubara of Ibara, Oba Olufemi Omolade on Saturday tasked well meaning individuals, corporate organisations and religious bodies to invest their resources in social service projects that will alleviate the plights of the less privileged in the society.
While identifying the need for good leadership in every society, Oba Omolade charged those in positions of authority to always prioritise poverty alleviation and empowerment programmes to sustain the welfare of the people.
Oba Omolade made this charge at his Palace in Abeokuta during a community empowerment programme put together by the Foursquare Gospel Church, Upper Room Temple, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta in conjunction with Holu Nikka Foundation and Shalom Megastores.
Oba Omolade while commending the organizers for rising to the responsibility of assisting the people despite the hike in prices of commodities also encouraged citizen to place more value on the demand for good governance rather than the exchange of cash and other items as politicians prepare for the 2023 elections.
In his remark, the minister in charge of Foursquare Gospel church, Upper Room Temple, Pastor Ayoyinka Akinyosoye explained that the community empowerment program was part of the church’s contributions to society as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Akinyosoye who gave the assurance that the church would sustain the support for the less privileged in the society explained that the choice of Ibara for the empowerment was to further consolidate on the peaceful coexistence among residents of the community.
On his part, a guest minister, pastor Levi Ethofe charged the people to also pay attention to their relationship with God as they pursue different goals in life.
Ethofe said that only the Almighty God could solve the problems of mankind and advised them to rely on Jesus Christ for the salvation of their souls.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that 70 indigent youths drawn from different parts of the Ibara communities were supported with various food items during the event and some of the beneficiaries while expressing their gratitude.
He also urged capable individuals, groups, and organisations to emulate the initiative geared towards meeting the needs of people in their immediate surroundings.
