Ogun: Accident claims 5 lives in Ago Iwoye

Five persons were confirmed dead while six others sustained injuries in an accident involving Opel Safira and a Mazda bus around Ago Iwoye-Ibadan route within Arebi village before Mamu.

Mr Ahmed Umar, the Sector Commander , Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Umar noted that the accident occured at 12:56pm and was caused by excessive speed and wrongful overtaken by the driver of the Mazda bus.

“The accident involved OPEL Safira marked FN 73 APP and a Mazda bus with registration number FST 877 YC,” he said.

“A total of 11 people were involved in the accident which comprised six men and five women. Six people were injured ( four male adult and two female adult).

” A total of five death were recorded from the crash ( three male adult and two female adult ). All the deceased are from the Mazda bus.

The sector commander noted that the injured victims were taken to General hospital Ijebu Ode while the deceased were deposited at the same hospital mortuary.

Umar advised the motoring public to drive carefully and always obey traffic rules and regulations.

He urged the family of the victims to contact FRSC Ago Iwoye out post unit for more information about the crash.
