Ogun assembly tasks MDA’s on accountability, transparency

Committed to promoting accountability and transparency in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government in Ogun State, the State House of Assembly through its Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption has considered the audit report of the Gateway United Football Club with a charge on the management team to always comply with the relevant accounting principles and financial regulation to promote efficiency and effectiveness.

The House Committee also requested the Management of the team to submit all supporting documents relating to all activities including funds expended or received under the player sign-on fees, loaned player (s) sports academy and all approvals for releases of match funds amongst others.

The Committee Chairman, Honourable Musefiu Lamidi issued the directive during the consideration of 2015-2019 Auditor General’s reports on the State Football Club led by its Acting General Manager, Mr. Niyi Soneye at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Hon, Musefiu, in company of his Vice, Abdul Basir Oladunjoye and other members including Honourables Sola Adams, Adeyemi Ademuyiwa and Olakunle Sobukanla requested that the Management provide the documents on or before 30th December, 2021, that they should reappear before the committee on the 19th of January, 2022

In same vein, the committee directed that the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure submit supporting documents on special projects it executed between the year 2015 and 2019, as the Committee considered the audit report of the Ministry for the period.

The Committee further asked the Ministry led by its Permanent Secretary, Engr. Yusuf Oladimeji and a former Permanent Secretary, Engr. Kayode Ademolake, to provide more records relating to the construction and rehabilitation of roads and other records attributed to mast and infrastructure within the period under review.

The House Committee also considered the audit reports on some officials, who served at Imeko-Afon Local Government Councils between 2014 and 2019 with a warning to the concerned officials to always abide by the financial regulations and other extant laws in all their official conducts.
