Rtd Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, the State Commander of Osun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) has congratulated the state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, on his appointment as the king (Owa) of Igbajo Land, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun.
Ogun Today News reports that the appointment of the APC Chairman as the new traditional ruler of Igbajo Land was announced today (Monday) by the state government after the state executive council meeting.
The Amotekun Commander in a congratulatory message described the APC Chairman as an upright man and a foremost custodian of traditions.
He said, “the appointment of Famodun is putting the right peg in the right hole, which will bring more progress to the Igbajo community, Osun State and Nigeria at large.”
Adewinmbi thereafter wished the APC Chairman the best in his new appointment, saying he, however, believes and knows Prince Famodun is a royal desent who is equipped with leadership qualities, having piloted the affairs of APC in the state for years.
The Osun Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, announced the appointment of Prince Famodun as the Owa of Igbajo in a statement.
Egbedore said the appointment decision was taken at the State Executive Council meeting and that the appointment takes immediate effect.
It will be recalled that the stool of Owa of Igbajo became vacant following the death of Oba Olufemi Fasade on 23rd December 2020.
Prince Famodun was unanimously selected as the sole candidate of the Owa Oke-Ode Ruling House in a meeting held on 11th November 2022.
Until his appointment as the Owa-elect, Prince Gboyega Famodun, was the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state.
