One person was confirmed death in a tanker explosion around Ajegunle, Toll gate axis on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway on Friday morning.
Mr Ahmed Umar, the Ogun FRSC Sector Commander, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the command’s Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe.
“As a result of earlier reported tanker crash that occurred at the early hours this morning around toll gate, Ota which resulted to fire outbreak due to leakage that spilled the content to a far distance.
“The FRSC personnel carried out the rescue operation and were able to extinguished the fire with the help of Lagos State fire service.
“The head of the truck pulled from the body when the driver was about to enter the filling station.
“One person was involved and was burnt to death. Traffic has been diverted , area coned as well .
“According to eyewitness, the person was trying to run when he fail inside the gutter and the fire burnt him inside the place
“Motorists are advised to drive cautiously obey traffic rules, lane discipline and cooperate with traffic managers managing the traffic situation,” he said.
The FRSC promised to give more details about the crash.
