Since the Nigerian Electoral Act 2022 remains a guide for all players and participants in the forthcoming general elections, then party stalwarts, especially delegates across all parties must be finalizing plans for the conduct of primary elections where aspirants will be christened as candidates/flag bearers for various elective posts (and subsequently presented to INEC) through the voting decision of party delegates.
No doubt all eyes including that of the retrogressives are on the Progressives especially as it relates to who clinches the ticket to replace President Buhari, likewise how the odds will favour the deftly configured Dapo Abiodun to consolidate on his BOFT Agenda in the Gateway State; so has been speculations surrounding the densely populated Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State.
In the past months, there have been avalanche of political communication messages emerging in the social media space, marketing the uniqueness of candidates who have threw their hats into the ring to unseat the incumbent House of Representative Member, Ibrahim Isiaka, who’s equally giving shots to retain his seat in the Green Chambers.
For Adijat Adeleye, whose quest to represent all unheard voices in the Federal Constituency that cut across both Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas, representation at the Green Chamber must signify vitality through democratic growth, youth/women empowerment, all-inclusive community development programmes and the attraction of both State and Federal Government infrastructural support projects.
While not playing the political cards of sympathy as a party adherent knowing fully well how Ewekoro has always enjoyed the maximum support of political big wigs in Ifo I and II to secured political positions in the interest of fairness and unity, it would not be out of place to drum support for our own Amazon to enable her coast home in victory at the coming primaries few days away.
Not always driven by political ambition or aspiration, the resourceful and adept Adijat is already armed with a renewed drive for legislative reforms, lofty Constituency programmes likewise a clear legislative agenda drawn from public opinion cum performance gap of the incumbent and many more to immediately hit the ground running in the Tenth Legislature.
Dear Party Elders, Leaders, Delegates and faithfuls, as we warm up to rewrite the history of the land with our hands, let’s be mindful that we remain critical players in the mission to birthing the new horizon that would in turn redefine legislative representation to attract and deliver democratic dividends from Lambe to Obada, without leaving no stone unturned at Ibogun, Coker, Papalanto, Obada-Oko and Elere Onigbedu.
For the common man in lisa, Asa Yobo, Arigbajo, Abalabi to Oke-aro, Isheri/Ojodu down to Sunren and Ososun, it is more ideal to give our party’s mandate to an hybrid of both Legislative and Executive Arms who has better idea of community development having rose through the ranks, thus garnered political experience within and outside the shores of the State.
