Prof. Felix Salako, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has assured the university community and stakeholders that his administration would continue to work for the development of the university.
Salako stated this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday by the institution’s Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Kola Adepoju.
According to the statement, Salako would be presiding over his last convocation ceremony as the vice chancellor of FUNAAB.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the university would hold its 28th and 29th combined convocation on Wednesday and Thursday.
Adepoju noted that Salako had on Friday, visited the institution’s Muslim community after a special Jumat service to commemorate the convocation ceremony, where he promised not to rest on his oars at ensuring progress and development of FUNAAB.
The vice chancellor explained that his team had reinvigorated, retooled to improve on sustained academic and moral excellence, infrastructural development and opening new vista for growth towards taking the University to greater heights.
He solicited for more of the cooperation of the University Muslim Community and the entire staff and students of the institution towards crowning the modest achievements of his administration in the remaining few months of his tenure.
Salako pointed out that it was only in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility of religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship of staff and students that more meaningful development would be achieved.
He enjoined trouble shooters to eschew violence, rancour and acrimony , warning that nobody could intimidate him or his Management team out of the space of his responsibility to ensure peace and progress of the university.
” The activities marking the convocation ceremonies continue on Sunday with commemorative Sunday service holding at Chapel of Grace, FUNAAB.
“On Monday there will be agric and research fare and a novelty match while on Tuesday , there will be commissioning of projects and naming of monuments after former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other eminent personalities.
” There will also be convocation press conference on Tuesday.
“On Wednesday, former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ,Mr.Tunde Lemo will deliver the combined convocation lecture of the university while Undergraduates convocation ceremony will follow immediately.
“The convocation ceremonies will end on Thursday with Postgraduate convocation and Luncheon for invited guests,” the statement read. (NAN)
