The police command in Ogun says it has developed a detailed plan with safety measures to address security issues and provide maximum protection for residents and visitors throughout the state during the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
SP Omolola Odutola, the Spokesperson of the command stated this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday.
Odutola explained that communication channels would be available for interaction and policing activities during the holiday period.
She noted that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamatu had implemented strong security measures to prevent any unforeseen security threats in the state during the celebrations starting from June 16.
The police spokesperson explained that officers had been deployed to key locations, conducting activities such as stop and search in various areas including Onigarri, Odeda, Long Bridge, Alapako and Sango/Ijoko.
” Other areas are State Judiciary road headquarters, Tasued junction, Ogunmakin, Foursquare, Kemta, Odogbolu, Ogbere junction, Ijebu Imushin, among others,” she said.
Odutola stressed that the initiatives aimed at maintaining peace in the state, saying that the command requested cooperation from residents as the police presence would be prominent in these critical areas.
” With the expected increase in visitors entering and leaving the Gateway state, residents are urged to be patient and cooperative during security checks at access points where necessary precautions will be taken.
” Continuous patrols will be conducted on highways such as Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode – Benin highway, by a collaborative effort involving other agencies and supervised by Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders.
” Individuals visiting commercial establishments like Point of Sale locations, eateries, lounges, restaurants and hotels are advised to remain vigilant, safeguard their belongings and be attentive to their surroundings,” she said.
Odutola explained that the command’s social media platforms, Complaint Response Unit, Control room and phone lines are operational and manned by trained personnel to assist with inquiries and provide necessary information.
