Christmas is a time of excitement and love, especially for children who are often involved in fun-filled and memorable events.
It is against this background that the lead Facilitator of Save Her Foundation, Reverend Mrs Fola Achudume and the Adele Oloko of Orile-Oko, Chief Olakunle Olalekan took Santa Claus to about 200 learners of Daniel Akintonde School of Children with Special Needs, Adigbe,Abeokuta.
Informing that the event was put together to celebrate the yuletide with the special Children, Reverend Mrs Achudume said Christmas signifies the birth of Jesus Christ who did not discriminate against anyone.
Represented by Eng Mrs Bola Adeoye, the Save Her Foundation lead Facilitator said that everyone was created to show forth the sovereignty of God, adding that families with Special Children should be encouraged to have a stress-free and enjoyable yuletide.
Posting that it could be a great task parenting Children with Special Needs, Reverend Mrs Achudume saw the need for the authorities and stakeholders to make available needed facilities for schools of children with special needs so as to make learning interesting and less-cumbersome for them.
Speaking in like manner in a Christmas message to the learners, the Adele Oloko of Orile-Oko charged them to be determined and be positive in their approach to life.
According to chief Olalekan who is also the Chief executive officer of Laleck Hotels&Suites, being physically challenged is not an avenue to be dejected adding the economic recession has created opportunities for philanthropic organisations and well spirited-individuals to show love to the needy.
In her remark, the Headteacher, Daniel Akintonde Model School for Children with Special Needs, Mrs Olubukola Idowu lauded Reverend Mrs Achudume and Adele Oloko of Orile-Oko as well as other friends of the school for identifying with the learners this Christmas season just as she charged other non- governmental organisations to emulate the kind gesture towards the special Children.
Highlight of the Christmas Funfair was rendition of the National Anthem,choreography, dance with Santa Claus and the cutting of the Christmas cake.
Items donated to about 200 learners of Daniel Akintonde School of Children with Special Needs are bedsheets, towels, water bottles,exercise books and pens
