In fulfilment of promise made by Governor Abiodun-led administration to OgunTeach Interns, the state government through Teaching Service Commission TESCOM has given out permanent letters
of appointment to 213 interns after duly completing their 2-year internship under the OgunTeach scheme.
The symbolic presentation held at the Conference room, Ministry of Education Science and Technology in Oke-Mosan was meant to be a reward for the diligence and commitment of the interns.
Chairman, TESCOM, Evang Olalekan Ifede in his address said the state government was ever committed to the sustenance and growth of quality education in the state. Hence the absorption of interns into full teaching service.
“This government planned to recruit 5000 teachers through the OgunTeach Scheme beginning from its first term in office. So far 2000 have been recruited out of which 1000 are being made permanent. Worthy of note also is that the government intends to recruit additional 2000 through the yet-to-be concluded recruitment exercise, all attesting to commitment of this government in this sector.” Ifede buttressed.
He charged all beneficiaries to sustain the tempo and make the best use of the offer, asking them to stand out and do the state proud in their respective areas of posting.
Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Monday Mathew from Ebenezer Anglican Primary school II,Olokuta, Yewa South Local government appreciated the government for the kind gesture saying the they would continue to be dutiful to advance education in the state.
The 213 interns is a fraction of the total 600 interns allocated to TESCOM, out of the approved 1000 shared between TESCOM and other stakeholders. It is expected that another batch out of the 600 will equally receive permanent letters of appointment in 2024 when another 2-year internship would have been completed.
