In fulfillment of it’s promise to uplift and economically empower the women folk across the country, the President Tinubu led administration through it’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has empowered 20 women farmers with five hundred thousand naira each across all local government areas in Ogun State through the wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun.
The women were empowered at the launch of the Women Agricultural Support Program for South West under the RHI at the June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto, Abeokuta today, where 20 beneficiaries each from Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Osun where also empowered.
In her address, the first lady of the Federation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu highlighted the various projects under the RHI that impact families through support for education, economy, agriculture and social empowerment.
She promised her continued support for families and people living with disabilities in the 36 states of the federation through the wives of the state Governors.
Earlier in her welcome address, wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun said the idea of RHI was to uplift Nigerian families through a program that impacts people at the grassroots and provides opportunities across various critical sectors which include education, economic empowerment and agriculture among others noting that Ogun State has continued to be a beneficiary.
“This RHI program directly contributes to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), which are crucial for our nation’s development. In Ogun State, my husband, Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration is committed to implementing these goals and addressing the challenges faced by our women and vulnerable populations. Through initiatives like the RHI Women Agricultural Support Programme and the support for persons with disabilities, we are working towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all”.
She stated.
Mrs. Abiodun added that the RHI Social Investment Program guarantees that people living with disabilities can continue to be productive members of the society, contributing to the economy and playing their part in nation building while appreciating and expressing her gratitude to Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her tireless efforts in championing the cause of women’s empowerment and Nigerians in general.
Wife of the Oyo state Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde in her welcome address lauded the achievements of President Bola Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu in a spate of few months encouraging the beneficiaries to utilize and maximize their grants for the growth of their agricultural businesses.
In a symbolic presentation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu presented cheques of ten million naira each to the wives of the South West Governors who would in turn disburse to the various beneficiaries in their states.
At the event which was well attended by dignitaries all over the country, some people with disabilities were also given hundred thousand naira cash grants each by nation’s First lady as support for their business
