OOU image maker bags APBN excellence award

In recognition of his professional contributions and commitment to excellence, the Deputy Registrar in charge of the Corporate Affairs Division at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Mr Adeniyi Oduwole, has been honoured by the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Ogun State Chapter.

Oduwole, a public relations guru and seasoned administrator, was conferred with an award of professional excellence during the 2024 Professional Summit and Award Presentation of APBN held recently at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

The university spokesman and other awardees at the event were nominated by their respective professional associations, which are affiliates of APBN.

Oduwole belongs to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and equally holds the membership of other bodies, including the International Public Relations Communication and Marketing Network, Canada; Public Relations Society of America; Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ); Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria; Association of Nigeria University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and Association of University Administrators (AUA) United Kingdom.

At various times, Oduwole has served the University meritoriously in many capacities although he is currently on sabbatical leave at the Media and Corporate Relations Division of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State.

Outside the university, and as part of his services to the nation, this distinguished award recipient has contributed to educational development, using his expertise in crisis management, industrial relations, strategy formulation and implementation as well as excellent communication skills to help sustain peaceful co-existence among members of many university communities and their host communities.

In his remarks, the APBN Chairman, Alhaji Ebun Atinuke, stated that the Chapter recognised Oduwole’s contribution to the development of professionalism as well as his hard work and dedication.

Responding, Oduwole expressed gratitude to the APBN for honouring him with the prestigious award, saying it will further motivate him to continue making a positive impact in both his chosen field and the society.

The Deputy Registrar restated commitment to using his skills and expertise to make a difference in the society and also inspire others to strive for excellence and uphold ethical standards.

He said, “I am truly humbled and honoured to receive this prestigious award. I am grateful to the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria for recognising my efforts and dedication. This award is not just a recognition of my own work, but also a testament to the support of my family, professional colleagues and mentors.”

“I want to sincerely appreciate everyone who supported me every step of the way. This honour is a testament to the power of teamwork, collaboration and perseverance. I am proud to be part of a community that values excellence and strives to make a positive impact.”

“I will cherish this award always and continue to strive for excellence in all that I do, believing that others can be inspired to make a difference in our society,” Oduwole added.

Dignitaries in attendance at the event included the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya; Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde; Corps Commander, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Seni Ogunyemi; former Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Waheed Kadiri; Vice President, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Dr Abdussobur Salaam; and Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Kunle Ashimi, among others.
