Olu of Imasayi-Yewa Hails Professor Oderinde’s OOU Inaugural Lecture

The Olu of Imasayi-Yewa, Alayeluwa Oba (Rtn) Lukman Olalekan Adeleke Kuoye, has congratulated Professor Olatundun Oluwatunmise Oderinde, a native of Imasayi-Yewa, on her successful delivery of the 110th inaugural lecture at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

The lecture, titled “Woo-Man, Woe-Man, Woman? Redefining the nomenclature in God’s perspective,” was held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

In a statement on Saturday, Oba Kuoye praised Professor Oderinde for her “beautiful research and presentation” at the event, which was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life.

He described the DVC as a “pride of Yewaland” and urged other indigenes of the area to emulate her by being “good ambassadors of Yewaland.”

“Professor Oderinde’s latest status is a true reflection of her decades of investment in the growth of Nigeria’s education sector through the academic four walls,” the monarch said.

“I am so proud and I cannot but congratulate her very warmly.”

The event was also attended by the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr ESV Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, as well as six other obas from Yewaland.

“I urge all indigenes of Imasayi-Yewa and Yewaland at large to emulate the erudite scholar by being good ambassadors of Yewaland,” Oba Kuoye said. “We must sustain the virtues upon which our forefathers built Imasayi kingdom and also step it up to impact lives and help develop our dear country’s educational sector.”

Professor Oderinde is a Professor of New Testament and Christian Theology at OOU. She is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the university.
