Ogun to spend over N62.438bn on agro-cargo airport, road construction in 2022

The Ogun government says it plans to spend over N62.438billion for its various capital projects across the state in 2022.

The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, disclosed this while taking turn to defend the Ministry’s 2022 budget proposal before the state lawmakers in Abeokuta.

Akinsanya explained that the capital projects included reconstruction of agro-cargo airport in Ikenne local government, rural roads, industrial area roads and bridges across the state.

He added that the objective of the budget was to initiate new road projects in addition to the timely completion of all ongoing roads across the state as well as river crossing and overhead bridges.

The commissioner opined that the next year budget would cater for the rehabilitation/reconstruction of 42.5km township road, reconstruction of 60km rural and 15km Industrial roads.

He added that the budget would also cater for another 60km of chemical treated roads which would be constructed alongside 50km inter/intra cities roads among others.

Similarly, the General Manager, State Public Works Agency, Gbenga Akintola, has affirmed that the agency was irrevocably committed to sustainable road maintenance and management to aid the state industrialisation policy.

Akintola disclosed that the agency had proposed N853.9million as its total budget for 2022, this consisted of N750million for capital projects, while N103milliin would go for recurrent expenditure.
