Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has reiterated his administration’s commitment towards making life better for the citizenry especially women who are the bedrock of socioeconomic development of any given society.
The Governor stated this at the maiden edition of “OGUN ALAGA DAY” organised by Association of Professional Traditional Wedding Engagement Coordinators of Nigeria (APTWECON) with the theme ‘How To Curb Conflict In Marriages’ held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Represented by Commissioner for Community Development and Corperatives, Hon. Ademola Balogun, Gov. Abiodun said that plans are in top gear to perfect policy guidelines for the implementation and disbursement of loans at a single digit interest rate to women traders and artisans in the State to cushion the effects of the economy meltdown
He stressed that his administration is doing its best to support SMEs, particularly enterprises majorly owned and run by women in the State as he is of the opinion that when trade thrives, there will be stability at the home front which will positively reflect in the community as each family will be able to contribute their quota to self-help projects within respective communities
Speaking on behalf of members, the governor of the association, Ogun State chapter, Deaconess Muibat Adesola Odusole, appreciated Gov. Dapo Abiodun for his commitment and always heeding to women’s call, noting that the association and women in the state are delighted with the efforts of this present administration to uplift the welfare and wellbeing of the populace, particularly the women folk.
In her word, ‘your Excellency will no doubt agree that women are builders of home, family and by extension, the nation’ we therefore appeal to you sir to extend your magnanimity to our members. We humbly solicit for empowerment; a befitting secretariat for the association; one 18seater bus that will make monitoring and attending meetings across the country easy and pleasurable.”
Highlights of the event includes decoration of the Governor as the MAYEGUN OF APTWECON ,Ogun State Chapter amongst others.
