…holds 2024 Colloquium Thursday
The Ogun State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is set to host its 2024 Annual Colloquium, themed “Galvanising Public and Private Stakeholders Towards Addressing Food Crisis in Nigeria: Public Relations As Key Driver.”
The event, which aims to bring together stakeholders to foster partnerships and coordination in addressing Nigeria’s food security challenges, will hold on Thursday, 3rd October, 2024 at the Cinema Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, commencing at 10.00am.
According to a statement signed by Mrs Oluwaseun Boye and Mr Kunle Olayeni, the Chairman and Secretary of Ogun NIPR respectively, the Colloquium will have Governor Dapo Abiodun as the Special Guest of Honour.
The statement added that the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Kehinde, will be the Lead Speaker at the event, which will also feature a renowned agripreneur, Mr Olakunle Osunsanya, public relations expert, Mr Ayodele Ishola, and a chartered accountant, Dr Gbenga Adeoye, as panel discussants.
Also, the Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, will deliver a keynote address at the colloquium where major players in the food production value chain from the public and private sectors within and outside the state are equally expected as participants.
“The 2024 Annual Colloquium will explore the role of public relations in addressing the food crisis in Nigeria, with discussions on strategies for public-private partnerships, agricultural development and effective communication,” the statement noted.
In recognition of his administration’s tremendous investments in the agricultural sector and bold steps to promote food security in the state, the Ogun NIPR will honour Governor Abiodun with a Distinguished Award at the event.
Similarly, the organisers will honour the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) with an Award of Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility for its notable contributions to teaching, research and extension services.
Other personalities and organisations slated for Model Corporate Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to farming and food production in Nigeria include Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Limited, which is owned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Managing Director, Agrochemical Limited, Mr Adewole Fatokun, and Team Lead of Soilless Farm Lab, Mr Samson Ogbole.
The statement added: “By organising this year’s Colloquium, Ogun NIPR aims to contribute to Nigeria’s food security discourse and promote public relations as a vital component in addressing this critical national issue.”
“We believe that proper identification of real stakeholders in the agricultural value chain, designing effective ways to communicate new ideas and technical advice to them, and creating a conducive environment for farmers and agribusiness to thrive have all become very germane to addressing food crisis in Nigeria.”
