Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution granting the Nigerian Union of Mine Workers the right to issue tickets to any purchaser of its products within its jurisdiction, within the State, while the Truck Owners Association of Nigeria should also issue their ticket at 50% rate of charges by the Nigerian Union of Mine Workers to all truck drivers loading in the quarry within the State.
The passage of the resolution followed the presentation of the joint House Committees report on Industry, Trade and Investments as well as Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions in respect of of the rift between Nigerian Union of Mine Workers and Truck Owners Association of Nigeria over revenue collection presented by Hon. Bisi Oyedele, who thereafter moved for its adoption, seconded by Hon. Oluseun Adesanya and supported by the Whole House through a voiced vote.
According to the report, “the Committee in considering the aforementioned observations, recommend the following for the consideration of this Honourable House, that: the Jurisdiction of the Nigerian Union of Mine Workers in this context falls within the Quarry and as such, it has the moral justification to issue tickets to any purchaser of its products.
The tickets of the Nigerian Mine Workers should only be obtained by the purchasers of the Quarry products in the State; and the Truck Owners Association of Nigeria should also issue their ticket at 50% rate of charges by the Nigerian Union of Mine Workers, to all truck drivers loading in the Quarry within the State”, the report stated.
