Ogun State Signage and Advertising Agency (OGSAA) has finalised plans to collaborate with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development for granting billboard permit.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Sakirudeen Salaam, made this known at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying, the aim of the Ministry was to ensure that no physical structure or outdoor furniture poses a threat to the citizenry. He noted that the Ministry’s considerations for the protection of right of way, underground pipes and infrastructure, among others were some of the reasons the Agency must be involved in the process of granting permits to billboards.

“There are considerations such as, protecting the right of way, underground pipes and infrastructure, among others, which must not be disturbed, hence the need for our Ministry to be involved in the process,” Engr. Salaam said.

In his remarks, General Manager, OGSAA, Hon. Fola Onifade, stated that OGSAA, like all government agencies, must pay cognisance to the State Urban and Regional Planning and Development (OGURPD) Law 2022, which requires advertisers to obtain recommendations for positioning of mega billboard structures from the Ministry, to align all structures with the physical planning regulations of the State.

“As government Agencies, the Ministry and OGSAA are mindful of maintaining the ease of doing business in the State and will thus continue to collaborate for the overall well-being of the people of the State,” Hon. Onifade emphasised.
