An 18-year-old man, Sodiq Raji, on Tuesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly assaulting someone with a knife.
Raji, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of assault.
The prosecuting counsel, Insp. E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 19 at 7.30 a.m. at Ota Market.
Adaraloye said the defendant assaulted one Abubakar Musa with a sharp object, suspected to be a knife, when a fight occurred between them.
He said the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate A. O. Adeyemi, admitted the defendant to N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun government.
She adjourned the case to Feb. 7 for further hearing.
