Methodist Church Nigeria has urged President Bola Tinubu to waste no further time to put every necessary thing in place to kick off the implementation of policy on state police.
The church said that the idea of state police holds the ace to tackling the rising insecurity challenge across the country despite fears in some quarters that it might be used as an instrument of victimisation by the state government.
The church has equally urged the handlers of the nation’s economy, particularly, the Minister of Finance, Mr Wale Edun and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Yemi Cardoso to intensify efforts to stop the free fall of naira and salvage the country’s economy nose-diving every day.
It lamented the economic hardship Nigerians are currently grappling with as a result of subsidy removal from petroleum products, rising inflation, the incredible increase in prices of commodities, naira free fall as well as worsening insecurity among others.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the second Synod of Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Yewa, held at Methodist Church Nigeria, Igbogila, Yewa North Local Government area of Ogun State.
The communique made available to our Correspondent on Monday was signed by the President of the Synod and Bishop of Yewa, Rt. Rev. Ayo Adeniyi and the Lay President, Sir Sunday Kojeku.
