Governance at the grassroots will from now experience, improved efficiency across the 20 Local Government Areas in Ogun State following an orientation programme organised in Abeokuta for all local government Vice Chairmen, by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in State.
The training themed; Evolving Roles of Vice Chairmen in Grassroot Development” emphasized the need for a smooth work relationship between participants and their Chairmen for an impactful governance at the local communities.
In his opening address, Hon. Commissioner, in the Ministry, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat charged the Vice Chairmen to be productive as their responsibilities encompass; monitoring, collaboration, citizen engagement, promotion of social development, among others.
“The roles of the Vice Chairmen have evolved significantly. As Vice Chairmen, you are not just the second in command; you are co-leaders, change makers, and advocates for your communities”, he said.
Remarking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, underscored the important roles of Vice Chairmen at the local government areas, as one that is vital to enhancing administrative capabilities for effective governance at the grassroots.
