The need for women to have financial independence and all-round well-being has again been brought to the center stage.
This was brought to fore by the First Lady of Ogun state and founder, Ajose Foundation, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun at the women’s conference organized by her Office and Spouses of Ogun State Functionaries Association (SOSGFA) tagged ‘Women, Work and All-Round Wealth’ held at the June 12, Cultural Center, Kuto, Abeokuta.
Mrs. Abiodun said financial independence for women was an important topic that needed to be addressed because according to her, “studies have shown that women are less likely to study courses leading to finance careers. They need to be empowered on efficient ways to manage finances”.
“My speech is not going to be very long because today’s event is carefully put together to address critical information on mental, physical, and financial well-being especially as we approach a very busy year in the political phase of the country” she added.
Mrs. Abiodun appreciated the Governor for always supporting the women in the state to harness the full extent of their potentials adding that the conference was a classic example of his support for the women folk.
In their goodwill messages, the first ladies of Lagos, Kwara and Osun states Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwoolu, Ambassador Folake Abdulrazaq and Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola unanimously lent their voices to breaking the biases and challenges facing women, promising their continued support towards ensuring their financial stability and all-round well-being.
The Minister for Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen in her address enjoined the women to take advantage of the key issues discussed at the conference to improve their financial status and their physical and mental health.
She appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his unflinching support for women and women programs in the state promising to continue to work closely with the state on women empowerment and well-being.
The Panelists, drawn from both the public and private sectors of the economy, discussed the need for women to be financially prudent in their businesses, put their money to profitable investments and guard their mental and emotional health in the face of challenges.
Chairman of the occasion, Governor Dapo Abiodun reiterated his commitment towards continued empowerment of women in the state, adding that his administration would not relent at giving women in the state, a good lease of life.
Other dignitaries at the event include, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, Deputy Governor, Alhaja Salmot Badru, former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Titi Gomez, Wife of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hajia Salamotu Gbajabiamila and Iyalode Alaba Lawson among others.
