The Acting Corp Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) , DCM Dauda Biu has urged FRSC Special Marshals across the country to avoid being partisan in the discharge of their duties.
Dauda gave the warning during the 2022 Special Marshals Zonal Conference with The theme: “The Responsibility of Special Marshals in the face of a new administration in the Corps” Organised by Ogun State FRSC held at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library ( OOPL) Abeokuta Ogun State.
Biu, represented by the Deputy Corps Marshal DCM Susan Ada Ajenge stressed that FRSC remained a non-partisan Organisation.
He urged Special Marshals not to use FRSC platforms for the advancement of their political careers.
The FRSC boss added that the Corps must continue to be impartial and available to assist the public in the free flow of traffic.
According to him “
Special Marshals are required to perform professionally in all situations, particularly when conducting patrol and other Corps tasks to ensure that traffic flows freely,patrol enforcement must be sustained and increased.
” Road safety research must also be actively pursued, and recommendations for ways to lower RTC and serious injuries must be made”.
He therefore advised the Special Marshal to play their
responsibilities following the Special Marshal rules to support one another.
Declaring the Conference Open, the Governor of Ogun State , Dapo Abiodun, represented by the State Executive Secretary , Security Trust Fund, Engr. Adeola Sosanwo, noted that the role of Special Marshals in ensuring safer roads could not be over-emphasized .
Abiodun pledged that all necessary support to give Ogun State FRSC and the Special Marshals would be duely delivered.
“We are already approaching December period, I want to plead with you all that we should be on our fit to ensure that there’s security of lives along our major road .
“The Special Marshals have been doing so well and supporting the Federal Road Safety Corps.
” I would have their appearance to be more often on the road because it seems it only festive period that you see most of them out there, I hope that henceforth, they’ll be there to control traffic especially Lagos-Ibadan express way,” he said.
In his remarks, the National Coordinator, Special Marshal, Dr John Ogbebor, commended the efforts of the Special Marshals in Lagos and Ogun State, saying that they should keep the flag flying.
He ,therefore, encouraged the Special Marshals to listen and apply experiences gained from the lecture when performing their duties in future.
