Two months after clinching Egba prestigious title, Ogun Ex-commissioner, Olopade Bags Ogun Merit Award
After his exit from office as Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Ogun state, Chief Bukola Olopade’s works still speak for him.
Recently, the prestigious Elegant Events and Surprises organised its maiden edition of Ogun Merit Awards to honor some iconic personalities who have contributed immensely to the development of Ogun state in their different capacities.
The event, which was held at the expansive Daktad Hotel event hall in Abeokuta, had in attendance the high and mighty in the society.
Chief Bukola Olopade was one of the uncommon figures whose giant strides in the state earned them the Ogun Merit Awards recondition as he was awarded as the man of the year.
Olopade’s transition to the private sector has ensured that his trajectory has been in the public eye. Before venturing into sports marketing via his Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Olopade was the Ogun State Commissioner for Youths and Sports under the Gbenga Daniel administration.
Until he ventured into sports administration and marketing, Olopade, who is well known for throwing top-notch parties and events, was the brains behind the top-rated Access Bank-sponsored Lagos City Marathon, Abeokuta Marathon 10km race, and the Remo ultra-race.
The award came two months after Olopade was installed with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Osi Asoju Oba of Egbaland.
Speaking on his new achievement, the former commissioner said “Impact is very important because all eyes are on you and because it’s based on merit, there is no doubt it’s an award well deserved and received. He explained that the love and growth of the people of his community is always paramount to him.
The converner Adebukola Abolade said chief Bukola Olopade was deserving of the award due to his contribution to the development of the youths in the state during and after his tenure when he was the commissioner for youths and sports.
Abolade explained that chief Olopade is a man who has the love of the youth at heart because of his legacy to the youth particularly the ones who are striving to be great in heart.
Her words “Ogun merit awards was basically on Merit to honour great indigenes of Ogun state who are part of the development of the state, to celebrate Elegant Events, an event planning company for 5 years.”
