The Amotekun Corps, Osun chapter on Tuesday, said it has deployed personnel to ensure safety of lives and property during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Amotekun Commander , retired Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, through the corps spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu in Oshogbo.
Adewinmbi stated that the deployment followed the Federal Government’s declaration of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as public holidays to mark the celebration.
“The personnel deployed for this assignment were drawn from various Local Government Area commands, and departments across the state.
“This is to ensure lives and property are safe and secure while the celebration progresses.
“The critical state assets and infrastructure situated at strategic points, recreational centres, strategic facilities and spaces are amongst many others that will be focused on before, during and after the festivity,” the commander said.
Adewinmbi also congratulated the Muslim faithful and called for peace, love and unity among residents in the state.
The corps commander warned all criminal elements, to desist from their evil acts or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
“We will not go to bed during the holidays but rather remain fervent and committed to the corps’ mandates and statutory functions, as provided by the law.
“This is to make the celebration a smooth and peaceful one for all,” Adewinmbi said
