Court remands two over alleged theft of cooking pots

 Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan on Friday, remanded Faruk Lawal, m, 25 and Blessing Otubo, f, 45, over alleged theft of three cooking pots worth N100,000.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Latunji, ordered Lawal and Otubo to be remanded in Agodi Correctional Center in Ibadan, after their inability to perfect their bail conditions.

Latunji admitted each of the defendants to a bail of N50,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 9 for hearing.

The duo had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred against them.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Oluseye Akinola, told the court that the defendants committed the crime on March 1, at Iyemetu Area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Akinola said that Lawal broke into the house of one Olaitan Omola and stole three metallic pots valued at N100,000 and sold same to the second defendant at the cost of N11000.

The prosecutor stated that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State 2000.
