Chrisland University, Abeokuta, on Thursday matriculated 376 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oyeduni Arulogun, at the 10th matriculation urged the newly admitted students to shun deviant behaviours within and outside the campus.

Arulogun listed the deviant behaviours to include cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice among other ignoble acts.

She noted that these acts could serve as stumbling block to the students’ academic pursuit and greatness in life.

Arulogun warned that the institution had zero tolerance to all negative tendencies  and would not hesitate to wield its big stick on any erring students.

She urged the new students to consider the matriculation as the beginning of the next most important phases of their lives and should therefore explore the opportunity for self development to turn out to be the best in life.

The vice-chancellor urged the students to always be guided by the university’s core values of godliness, excellence, service, leadership, integrity and innovation.

“Today marks a new dawn for all of you, it is the  beginning of the next and most important phases of your life.

“I urge you to take it seriously and with utmost dedication of your life,” she said.

She added that the university would remain committed to pursuing academic brilliance and nurturing generation of innovative and informed leaders.

Giving his keynote address at the event, Dr Emma Jimo, challenged the students to make a self discovery of who they are as this is the basis of becoming great in life.

Jimo, a lecturer with the Department of Politics and International Relations, Lead City University, Ibadan, urged the students to be innovative.

He told them to challenge the status quo and shun all forms of negative tendencies.

The Chancellor and founder of the university, Dr Winifred Awosika, advised the students to always abide by the rule and regulations of the university.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
