The Ogun State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, on Wednesday said it rescued 16 women and girls allegedly forced into prostitution
Parading the victims with their trafficker before newsmen in Abeokuta, the Amotekun Corps Commander, Alade Adedigba, said the girls were rescued on Wednesday after intelligence report.
Adedigba explained that the victims, whose ages range between 12 and 27 years, were rescued from , Rail Line Hotel, located in Ifo, in Ifo local government area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the rescued girls mostly teenagers, were paraded along with their alleged “carer”, identified as Mrs Idem Joy.
According to Adedigba, 14 of the victims were from Akwa-Ibom State and one each from Cross River and Delta State respectively.
Adedigba said that a sum of N819, 600 were recovered from the alleged trafficker of the victims, who were being kept at Railway Line Hotel, Ifo, said to be owned by one Mrs Yemisi Oguntoro, presently at large.
” Some of the victims said they were made to swear to an oath while naked with holy books, so that they will not disclose what was happening to them to anybody and not to run away.
“What we are seeing is one of the products of the commitment of Gov. Dapo Abiodun to enhance security and improve on welfare of residents of the state.
“Ogun State shall not be a save haven for criminal elements of any type,” he said.
The commandant added that the security agency, would hand over the matter to the National Agency for Prohibition in Traffic of Persons (NAPTIP) for proper action.
