The Amotekun Corps in Osun,  on Tuesday said it arrested one Surajudeen Isiaka, 33, for allegedly stealing some iron sheets at Obalende Area of Osogbo, the state capital.

Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi,  the Osun State Commander of Amotekun, who made this known to newsmen in Osogbo, stated that the suspect was apprehended at Sunday midnight.

Adewinmbi said some residents of the area alerted Amotekun operatives to the operation of the suspect and he was caught while moving the stolen items away.

“The suspect was apprehended on Sunday midnight after stealing the iron sheets that belonged to residents of Obalende community.

“The Amotekun were alerted and our operatives swung into action, laid ambush and subsequently arrested the suspect,” he said.

Adewinmbi alleged that until his arrest, the suspect had been terrorizing and stealing from residents of the community and its environs.

“The Obalende Community people had to request for Amotekun operatives to assist them to stop the operation of thieves that always invade their community and cart away their belongings in the middle of the night.”

The commander said the suspect admitted to being a thief and that he had been stealing from the community for a very long time.

Adewinmbi said the suspect had been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

He said the Amotekun corps was working with other security agencies to keep the state safe and warned criminal elements to stay away from Osun or face the full wrath of the law
