Gov. Dapo Abiodun on Thursday, donated 25 patrol vehicles , drones to the Ogun police command.
Speaking while receiving the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun in his office in Abeokuta, Abiodun noted that the vehicles and ultra modern drone facilities would assist in combating crime in the state.
The governor explained that the gesture was in line with the Federal government’s motive of zero tolerance for insecurity.
Abiodun presented the patrol vans to the IGP in company of the Assistant Inspector General of Police , AIG Olatoye Durosimi and the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu.
The governor promised to continue to support security agencies to win the war against crimes and criminalities in Nigeria
He applauded the innovative and transformational leadership style of Egbetokun, promising to continue to support Nigerian Police to enhance Community Policing so as to win the war against insecurity in Nigeria.
Earlier , Egbetokun appreciated Abiodun for the gesture, acknowledging that the state remains one of the most peaceful in the country.
The IGP promised that the Nigerian Police would establish more police formations to curtail possible security breach.
” I am here to thank you specially for the support that you have been given to the police in Ogun state command.
” I am also here to appreciate you specially for the wonderful job that you are doing in Ogun, I noticed that our state has been turned around. I flew over the major towns and I could see massive development going on.
” The least we can do is to support you, we have to pay attention to even provision of security for Ogun state.
” I can see the migration of people into Ogun state increasing everyday because of the development in Ogun State and again because of the peace in Ogun state.
” All this development that you are undertaking has a burden we recognise that and the police leadership has decided to pay the necessary attention to Ogun state.
” We are going to create more police stations to match the development that is going on in Ogun state. We will establish more area commands, we are going to bring additional mobile police squadron into Ogun state,” he said.
Egbetokun sought for more support from the governor , saying that he should not get tired of supporting the police.
