Two people were injured while two vehicles got burnt as fuel tanker exploded on Thursday on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after it had a collision with two buses.
Mr Ahmed Umar, Ogun Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.
Umar noted that the incident occured at 2:05pm.
The FRSC boss noted that three vehicles were involved in the accident, Toyota Camry marked AAA 251 HE, Toyota Corolla with registration number
LSD 828 GS and a tanker with no registration number.
He added that the accident was caused by speed, brake failure and loss of control on the part of the tanker.
He explained that five male adults were involved in the accident with two persons injured, saying that no life was lost in the accident.
“A multiple crash involving a tanker and two other vehicles occurred around a worship centre on the outward section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Thursday.
“The rescue operation is still on to put the fire under control by Personnel of Ogun state Fire service . FRSC men are managing the traffic situation and assisted by other agencies,” he said.
“Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and remain calm until the resultant fire is extinguished,’’ he advised.
Umar assured that FRSC personnel and sister agencies were on ground to ensure orderliness.
