Ogun First Lady re-affirms commitment to campaign against domestic violence, others

First Lady and wife of the Ogun state Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has reaffirmed commitment of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Management Committee (VAPPMC) towards stemming the scourge of violence against persons. 

She gave the commitment at the quarterly meeting of the Committee, held at the Oba’s Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Mrs. Abiodun explained the agenda of the committee to include giving a voice to those affected by domestic violence and ensuring justice for them, adding that the committee’s work was pivotal to the efforts of the state government to stem the scourge of violence against people.

According to her, “Our inaugural meeting set out a clear agenda to give a voice to those who are affected by domestic violence and to ensure that justice is done on their behalf. It is therefore clear that our work is highly pivotal to the efforts of the Ogun state government to stem the scourge of violence against persons in our state.”

The first lady, who is also the chairperson of the committee admonished members to remain resolute in fulfilling their mandate as given by the Governor as well as give full support and cooperation to the course.

“Therefore as partners in progress, what is needed going forward is planned and deliberate efforts from all concerned in ensuring that we fulfill our mandate as given by His Excellency. Let us willingly give our full support and cooperation,” she said.
