Ogun speaker attributes success recorded in outgoing year to divine intervention


The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has attributed the successes recorded by the Assembly in the outgoing year 2020 by the Ninth Legislature under his leadership to the divine guidance and grace of God.

Oluomo made the remarks during the Assembly’s 2020 Christmas Carol of 9 lessons held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, expressing the hope that the new year would feature more events for the advancement of democracy.

Describing his collegue-lawmakers as progressive minded, Oluomo pointed out that the Assembly in spite the numerous societal challenges occasioned by economic and global pandemic, remained responsive and outstanding in the discharge of its constitutional duties, adding that the feat achieved could only be made possible with God’s divine leadership.

On her part, a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni- Gomez, commended the 9th Legislature for sustaining the legacies of the founding fathers of the State, urging them to continue to enhance good governance through effective legislative practice.

In his sermon, Pastor Babatunde Akolawole, described the birth of Jesus as light to the world, explaining the divine arrangement brought about improved joy and salvation to mankind, as the entire world had taken away from darkness.

Those who read the bible lessons at the Carol service included Honourables Bolanle Ajayi, Solomon Osho, Damilola Soneye, Kemi Oduwole and Adegoke Adeyanju.

Others are Honourables Ademuyiwa Adeyemi, Olakunle Sobunkanla, Atinuke Bello and Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, who read the ninth lesson.

Prayers were later offered for the Assembly, the State and nation at large.
