The Federal Road safety Corps (FRSC) has warned owners of articulated vehicle to caution their drivers against parking indiscriminately on highways in Ogun state or risk being sanctioned.
Mr Boboye Oyeyemi , the FRSC Corps Marshal, gave the orders and directives through the Sector Commander of Ogun state, Mr Ahmed Umar, on Thursday during a stakeholders meeting to checkmate indiscriminate parking of trailers and tankers leading to gridlocks along Ogere axis on the Lagos -Ibadan expressway.
The Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, explained further that it was important to clear the gridlock along Ogere tollgate , saying that the indiscriminate parking causes loss of valuable Man-hour and sometimes even leads to road traffic crashes.
The FRSC boss noted that the Federal Controller of Works had promised to cooperate with everyone to create good access to various parks where necessary.
He called on park owners to cooperate with the authority concern and also encourage drivers to park their vehicles in the designated parks
The FRSC Boss urged community heads and leaders of various transport association to talk to their drivers to desist from flouting laws and orders and explained further that a joint task force had been resuscitated to tackle the cases of indiscriminate parking which comprised of FRSC, Police, TRACE ,men of OP MESA and representatives of Fleet Operators such as Dangote Sugar, Salt, Salbas, AA Rano, PTD NUPENG, NURTW Trailers and Tankers Unions and Community Leaders.
Also present at the meeting were Ogun state Federal Controller of works, Permanent Secretaries of Ministry of Works and Ministry Transportation representing their Hon Commissioners, FRSC Corridor Commander 1 for Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Project Manager of RCC Construction Company and Parks Managers, among others.
