Over 20,000 students in Ogun on Saturday sat for the screening examinations into the 33 public schools with boarding facilities in the state for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Mrs Ronke Soyombo, the Special Adviser to Gov. Dapo Abiodun on Primary and Secondary Education, who monitored some of the examination centres , told newsmen that only students who performed well would be admitted.
Soyombo, in company of top officials from the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, added that those not admitted would be catered for in schools without boarding facilities.
The special adviser stated that intending students would be able to access their results in few days , saying that the examination sheets would be marked with computers.
She described the schools as exemplary in terms of the efforts and facilities put in place by the present administration to make it functional.
Soyombo admonished parents to support government efforts in ensuring that education standard were restored and that children were provided with the necessary resources and opportunity to flourish in their academics.
“Quality service delivery in education is the watchword of the present administration both in words and in deed.
“Parents should therefore do more to support government efforts by encouraging the children to face their studies and be a good ambassadors of the state,” she said.
The special adviser appreciated the state governor for giving education a priority and ensuring that resources needed to make teaching and learning conducive were put in place.
She also applauded the schools administrators for not relenting in their efforts to deliver quality teaching service.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Abosede Ogunleye, commended the government for giving the necessary support to the Ministry and the boarding schools to thrive.
Ogunleye called on teachers, parents and students to ensured that all government plans were achieved.
Some of the examination centres visited were Mayflower school at Ikenne, Prof. T.O Ogunlesi model college , Ogijo, Egbado College at Ilaro, Ijebu ode Grammar School and Abeokuta Grammar School.
