Mr Ahmed Umar , the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun says the command would as from Monday began the arrest of articulated vehicles carrying unlatched containers within the Lagos -Ibadan expressway.
Umar disclosed this when he alongside Special Adviser to Gov. Dapo Abiodun on Revenue, Mr. Jide Sanwo and other goverment officials embarked on inspection tour to trucks and trailers park in Ogere, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway, in preparation for FRSC Operation Scorpion II.
The operation, according to the sector commander , will commence on Monday, August 10 to Sunday, August, 16 to tackle the menace of road traffic crashes caused by unlatched trucks and trailers.
The FRSC boss charged trucks and trailers operators to always latched their vehicles while on transit.
He said the operation would also focus on other traffic offences such as driving with worn-out tyres, driving under influence of drugs or alcohol, driving without driver’s licence, lane indiscipline, dangerous driving and speed violation.
Umar added that any articulated vehicle driver apprehended during this operation and beyond would be prosecuted.
