Ogun govt. distributes input to over 1,165 rice farmers

The Ogun state government on Wednesday linked over 1,165 Rice Value Chain beneficiaries to input during the official flag off of the 2020 Wet Season Rice Production and Inputs Distribution.

This was done  under the Ogun State/Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN)/Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers Programme, by Gov. Dapo Abiodun at the State Agro Services Corporation in Ijebu-Ode.

Gov. Abiodun,  represented by the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina flagged off distribution of Knapsack Sprayers, Water Pumps, NPK fertilizer (20-10-10), and Post Emergence Herbicide (Tackle) to the Rice value chain beneficiaries.

The governor said the beneficiaries were  drawn from those that had earlier registered for this opportunity with the Government of Ogun State and successfully screened by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

He implored participants to take full advantage of the supplementary assistance provided by Ogun State Government, and also abide by the terms of engagement of the linkage programme so that other participants yet to be linked could  learn from their good performance.

He noted that similar exercises were ongoing for Maize and Cotton value chains, while the state government was facilitating arrangements on Aquaculture, Cocoa and Cattle Value Chains in the Anchor Borrowers Programme.

Other dignitaries present at the event included the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, and Officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN).
