A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Honourable Sikirulah Ogundele has blasted Senator Buruji Kashamu for insisting on former governor, Gbenga Daniel to initiate reconciliation in the party in the state.
Kashamu had described Daniel, a two term governor,as the only leader in PDP whom he respect so much to broker genuine reconciliation between himself and former House of Representatives member, Honourable Ladipupo Adebutu in the lingering crisis which is affecting fortune of the party.
The Senator who was the PDP governorship candidate at the 2019 poll, had accused the embattled state chairman, Chief Adebayo Dayo of betraying him by collecting #100million to handover the party’s structure to Adebutu with backing of PDP national Secretariat to reconcile the two warring factions in the state.
But Ogundele in an exclusive chat with “Ogun Today” in Abeokuta, accuses Kashamu of being mischievous about reconciliation process by his insistence on Daniel who had left the party with his supporters to the All Progressives Congress (APC) shortly after the last 2019 presidential poll in Nigeria.
According to him, “the former governor had written membership resignation letter to the PDP state and national Secretariats and can not lead reconciliation move in the party”
The former council chairman and member of the State House of Assembly in Ifo Local Government Area, alleged that Kashamu was not sincere about ending the crisis of PDP by asking Daniel to broker peace .
Seven previous reconciliation in past ten years with Kashamu according to Ogundele had failed including the one with the former governor, former House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, and Senator Dipo Odunjirin.
He accused Kashamu of doing business with political future of members of the party, adding that most of the his supporters including State Secretary, Alhaji Semiu Sodipo and other leaders had left for mainstream PDP in the state.
Ogundele expressed with confidence that PDP would take over the state in 2023, saying most of the aggrieved members had returned from ADC, ADP, APC and Mega Progressive Party as well as other political parties to work together for the next election in the state.#####
