The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Ogun command, on Wednesday launched ‘Operation Clear the Rot’ has part of it’s determination to rid the state of criminals.
Mr Ahmed Abodunrin, the State Commandant of NSCDC , while launching the special operation in Abeokuta, declared that the command was combat ready to ensure that Ogun is rid of crimes, particularly in the streets.
Abodunrin explained that the purpose of the operation was to create awareness on the functions of the command and to alert the people on why they should desist from any form of criminal activities.
He added that the exercise was meant to curb criminal activities and send warnings to criminal minded people within Abeokuta and its environment.
“Our aim is to continue to ensure public safety .we are carrying out this exercise as directed by Commandant General of the NSCDC, Mohammed Gana .
“We received a message from the people and NTA management in our office that hoodlums are always using the forest at the back of NTA Abeokuta to perpetrate evils.
“We have visited the forest with our Agro Rangers and Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) who were specifically trained to deal with forest issues.”
He advised the citizens to always cooperate with the command and always be alert and give the command useful information.
Abodunrin reiterated that the command would continue to curb pipeline vandalism in the state, saying that the command had achieved a lot due to strategies deployed to curb the act.
