The Ogun State Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Officers Wives Association , on Saturday cautioned motorists to stop the habit of drinking before and while driving especially during the Eid-el-kabir celebration.
They gave the charged at the sensitization programme tagged : “3Ds, Don’t Drink and Drive” held at Kuto Park in Abeokuta the state capital.
The Coordinator of the Officers’ Wives Association represented by Mrs Mojisola Oyedeji, disclosed that the programme was organised to sensitize the drivers and the general public on safety and need to obey traffic rules and regulations.
Oyedeji opined that it was important to remind the general public not to drink while driving especially during the Sallah period for people’s safety, saying that it was also necessary to respect other road users while driving.
She urged them to always concentrate while driving, adding that late night travels and driving against traffic should be discouraged.
She expressed optimism that the sensitisation programme would go along way in the minds of drivers and the general public.
On his parts, Mr Idowu Somolu, the Treasurer, Shagamu Car Unit, appreciated the FRSC Wives Association.
Somolu explained that they came at the right time , saying the programme would also serve as a reminder because people mostly drive in haste during the festive period.
