Construction of new Olusegun Osoba press centre, blessing to journalists – Commissioner


Ogun State Ministry of Information and Strategy says the construction of a modern and well equipped Olusegun Osoba Press Centre in Governor’s Office by Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration, has afforded journalists disseminate information about government’s  activities to the people in all parts of the world.

The State Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Mr. Waheed Odusile, represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abiodun Awere, stated this at the on-going budget performance appraisal before the House Committee on Information and Strategy, Culture and Tourism led by Hon. Yusuf Adejojo, at the Assembly, Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. 

Odusile explained that the press centre alongside a brand new 18-seater bus and refurbishment of P.A.E. vans as well as modern public address equipment were graciously purchased to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ministry in the promotion of government’s activities and programmes. 

The Commissioner noted the gesture had equally led to increase in revenue generation of the Ministry which stood at 59.84% wihin the period under review. 

He stated that the Ministry had in the last six months, produced/ packaged programmes on the Yellow Roof Revolution, the Anchor Borrowers Programme, Youth Empowerment, upgrading of health facilities across the State and maintenance and construction of roads amongst others.

Taking his turn to present the budget performance of the State television, ( OGTV), the Assistant General Manager, ( Marketing) Mr. Gbenga Sebiomo, said the in spite of dwindling revenue due to economic downturn, the station was able to generate over N170m in the period under review.

He said that the station had continued to ensure effective coverage of all arms of government through regular reportorial beats, just as it sustained its template to continue to project government’s efforts at combating the corona virus pandemic as well as the success of the vaccination of people in the State. 

In the same vein, House Committee also commended the management of the State Synage and Advertising Agency led by the GM, Mr. Fola Onifade, for generating over N196m representing over 98% out of the N200m revenue target for the fiscal year.

Other agencies that have their budget performance appraised by the lawmakers included the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, State Printing Corporation, State Broadcasting Corporation and Bureau of Information Technology amongst others.
