OGHA lauds Lands bureau, Housing corporation on increased revenue, affordable housing


Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Lands and Housing has commended the Bureau of Lands and Survey (BLS) for generating over N3.760bn, the State Housing Corporation for generating N1.197bn as revenue between January and June this year.

The Committee Chairman, Hon Soneye Damilola, gave the comendations, while responding to the presentation of achievements of both agencies led by the Special Adviser and Director General BLS, Mr. Aina Salami and the General Manager Housing Corporation, Esv. Wale Ojo during the ongoing 2021 half year budget performance appraisal at the Assembly Complex, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

Soneye in company of his colleague lawmakers, appreciated the efforts of housing Corporation in addressing the housing deficit among low income earners in the State, by building quality and affordable housing projects for the people; charging the two agencies to improve on their performances before the end of the year.

Earlier, in his presentation, the DG Lands, Mr. Salami stated that the revenue was generated from survey, planning and building fees, Inspection fees, Administration fees, Charting fees, Registration of documents, Maintenance fees and Certificate of Occupancy fees among others

He added that the agency’s achievements were due to the actualization of the initiative and policies of Governor Dapo Abiodun led -administration in the State in alleviating poverty, make land documentation conducive through automation of the bureau processes.

On his part, the GM Housing Corporation, ESV Ojo said that the Agency had been creating affordable shelter to the people thereby reducing housing deficit with various residential building projects already put in place in Abeokuta and Ijebu Ode.
