Ogun assembly approves change of name for TASCE


The Ogun House of Assembly has passed a bill  seeking to alter the nomenclature of the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) to the Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Omu-Ajose , Ijebu. 

Mr Ademuyiwa Adeyemi (Abeokuta South 11), House Committee Chairman on Education, Science and Technology, presented the report of his committee on the bill during plenary in Abeokuta on Thursday. 

Adeyemi moved the motion for the adoption of the report while it was seconded by Adegoke Adeyanju (Yewa North 1).

The bill  was meant to put in place legislations targeted at addressing the identity challenge being faced by the college of education in accessing intervention funds.

The bill would widen the scope  , operations as well as positioning the institution for better academic performance.

Mr Yusuf Sherif (Ado Odo Ota 1),  moved the motion for the third reading of the bill and seconded by Adeyemi. 

Also during plenary,  the assembly passed the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (Amendment) Law, 2021.

Mr Olakunle Sobukanla (Ikenne),  House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation, presented the reports of his committee to the whole House. 

Sobukanla, thereafter, moved the motion for the adoption of the report, seconded by Ganiyu Oyedeji (Ifo 11).

Sobukanla noted that  the bill on fiscal responsibility commission would ensure prudent management of the state’s resources, thereby achieving greater accountability and transparency in fiscal operations. 

Sherif moved the motion for the third reading of the bill, seconded by Abdul Oladunjoye (Sagamu 1).

Mrs Funmi Adeyemi,  the Deputy Clerk,  read the two bills for the third time before the lawmakers. 

Responding, Mr Olakunle Oluomo (Ifo 1), the Speaker, directed that the clean copies of the bills be forwarded to Gov. Dapo Abiodun for his assent.
