The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) , Adatan area division, on Thursday, Inducted the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW) Ogun State council. Mr Fasiu Abiola as the grand Patron of the division.
Speaking to newsmen at the event held in Abeokuta , the State Chairman of PCRC, Mr Akinlabi Taiwo commended the patron on his efforts as a leader in fostering more relationship between the police and the citizens.
“We have to look into the crannies of Ogun state and fish out the man who can assist the Nigerian police materially and morally and giving the police a vital information of which we work with .
“We are happy this morning that we have fish out another big fish Mr Abiodun Fasiu who has now become a full member of PCRC and the grand Patron.
“We are preaching the gospel of community policing that the Inspector General of police is preaching , now we have to make sure we police our community by ourselves , we have over 20,000 mining workers in the state and they have been preaching our gospel.
“Policing is not a one man job we have to make sure we cooporate with the police in other to have maximum protection of our lives and property,” he said.
Akinlabi advised the citizens to be more cautious as he pleaded to the Federal government to recruit more men into the police service.
“We are imploring the federal government to engage more men into the Nigeria police so as to have a very robust security of lives and property.”he said.
The newly inducted patron pledged his support in contributing to security of the state.
“Looking at the crowd today, this is only Egba division , we have the Remo, Yewa and Ijebu division that means our Union is everywhere in the state , we all have to cooporate in ensuring the security of local, state and the federal level.
“I will do my best in supporting the PCRC both financially and morally to make sure that Nigeria is free from insecurity ,” he said.
