The 13 years old boy, Gbolahan Ajibola, who was kidnapped in Obada -Oko town in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State by unknown gunmen has regained freedom.
It will be recalled that the young Ajibola was abducted on Saturday night, when the victim, his mother and grandmother were returning from their shop after attending the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) programme where the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye had ministered when the gunmen swoop on them.
It was reported that the incident, which occurred around 9pm when the gunmen, who were six in number, laid seige on Ajibola’s house as they were returning to their house in Destiny Estate in Obada-Oko in Ewekoro local government area of the state.
The gunmen, who were hiding in a nearby bush close to the victim’s house, pounced on the family when Ajibola alighted from his mother’s car to open the gate.
The kidnappers are said to have reached out to the family of the abducted boy demanding ₦50m as ransom.
It is however not clear whether a ransom was paid before the boy was released this evening.
The Ogun State Police Command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the release of the 13-year-old boy in a telephone conversation on Tuesday night
He added that the victim has since been reunited with his family.
He however said that he was not aware if any ransom was paid.
