FCE sports development : CESSAN honours outgoing provost

Colleges of Education Staff Sports Association of Nigeria (CESSAN) on Wednesday honoured the outgoing Provost, the first home grown Provost , Dr Ayodele Ajayi and the immediate past Registrar, Alhaji Rafiu Akinola for their contributions to Sports and their relentless services to CESSAN, Federal College of Education (FCE) Abeokuta branch.

The Deputy Provost of the College, Dr Rafiu Soyele, in his address at the programme held at the school premises, thanked God for making the day a reality.

The deputy provost noted that Ajayi would be the first provost in the college  to be celebrated at the expiration of his tenure , adding that, the two honourees actually deserved being honoured as they had left an indelible mark in the sands of time. 

He thereafter described the outgoing provost as an achiever, a transformer and a great listener who had put a facelift on the College and therefore appreciated CESSAN executive members for the befitting send-off organised for the icons.

Earlier, the CESSAN and College Sports Committee Chairmen, Mrs Ayodele Olubunmi , Winner Akparanta and Alhaji Ganiyu Ibikunle , respectively in their separate addresses appreciated Almighty God that made the day a reality.

They  added that the achievements made so far was based on the support received from members and that the outgoing provost deserved being honoured based on his love, support and passion for sports.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina, while appreciating CESSAN  for the Fellowship award conferred on him, promised that he would host CESSAN National in 2021 when FCE Abeokuta would be hosting the National body  here in Ogun State adding that he was ready to support the association. 

Speaking on behalf of all the awardees, a retired Permanent Secretary, former Clerk of the House and former Head of Service, Ogun State, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu , while appreciating CESSAN for the award stated that he was not surprise with what he witnessed , saying FCE Abeokuta had always been noted for quality.

OgunToday reports that Chief Segun Odegbami also bagged fellowship award.

Highlight of the event included presentation of awards to distinguished CESSAN members, choreography and presentation of gifts to the outgoing provost and the immediate past registrar.
