Two persons were on Monday confirmed dead while four others sustained various degrees of injuries in a lone accident involving a Sharon space bus around Fidiwo on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi explained that the accident occurred at 11:20am and was caused by excessive speeding and loss of control.
He noted that due to the excessive speed and loss of control , the vehicle marked YEE 202 XA skidded off the road and summersaulted to a swampy ditch.
The TRACE spokesman added that seven people were involved in the accident which comprised of two men, four women and one girl, saying that two women died in the accident.
“According to eyewitness, the driver was on excessive speed before it suddenly loss control of the vehicle , skidded off the road and summerdaulted into a ditch with 2 female passengers on board the commercial Sharon space bus dying on the spot,” he said.
Akinbiyi said that the four injured passengers had been taken to Victory Hospital Ogere, while the deceased had been deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara-Remo.
He, however, noted that it could not yet be confirmed if the female kids mother was among the dead.
He commiserated with the relatives of the deceased, calling on motorists to avoid excessive speed in view of its consequences.
