Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has strongly condemned the State Government handling of COVID-19 palliative distribution to the people.
The State Government had over the weekend begun the distribution of the palliative across the 20 Local Government Areas, leading to invasion by some people and mad rush for the items, particularly in Sagamu, Ijebuode and Ifo on Monday.
But the State PDP Chairman, Dr.(Hon.) Sikirulah Ogundele in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday, described the handling as very poor on the part of the government.
According to PDP, “distributing such palliative after keeping the items away from the affected people for months, should be seen as height of wickedness, greedness and cruelty”.
The party expressed its displeasure over the ugly incident in some of the Local Government Areas, which was far below the standard the state is known for among comity of states.
PDP asked the State Government to device a better way of distributing the palliative with out abusing the sensitivity of the highly sophisticated people of the state.
