Ogun assembly summons contractor, demands documents

Towards ensuring compliance with the State Procurement law, the Ogun State House of Assembly has summoned Messrs Danhodi Engineering Limited to avail the House of all necessary procurement documentations, processes and financial implications of medical equipment supplied to a medical facility in the State.

The Assembly through its Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi issued the directive during the consideration of the State Ministry of Health Financial and Audit Records for the year 2015 to 2019 as presented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Adesanya Ayinde at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Committee Chairman also directed the contractor to appear before it on Friday, October 7th, 2020.

Musefiu in company of Honourables Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, Adegoke Adeyanju, Abayomi Fasuwa and Olakunle Sobunkanla urged the ministry to avail the lawmakers with documents including fixed asset register, cash inflow and outflow for all accounts from 2015 to 2019, including bank reconciliation statements before Friday, 2nd of October, 2020.

The Committee also called for the appearance of a former Director of Finance and Account in the Ministry, Mr Ojelabi Usman in addition to the provision of all approval details and payment vouchers to the contractor with a view to ensuring transparency and accountability of government funds.

The Committee directed the Ministry to give details of revenue control and expenditure between 2015 and 2019 for the School of Nursing,

In a related development, the Committee also examined the Financial report of the State Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning as presented by the representative of the Permanent Secretary and Director of Urban Planning, TPL Talabi Olamide, with a directive to the Ministry to furnish the lawmakers with relevant supporting documents before Wednesday, 7th of October, 2020.

According to the Committee Chairman, Musefiu Lamidi, the documents requested included those containing the Ministry’s budget performance between 2015 and 2019, as well as the inflow and outflow details for examination by the lawmakers.

He also directed the State Board of Urban and Regional Planning to provide same documents to the Committee before Friday, 2nd of October, 2020.
