New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has joined forces with Nobel Laurette, Professor Wole Soyinka and other notable Nigerians supporting the recent comment of former president,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who said Nigeria is gradually becoming a failed state under the leadership of President Muhamedu Buhari.
The Ogun State Chairman of NNPP, Olaposi Sunday Oginni while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital, said Obasanjo’s statement requires urgent attention from presidency and not condemnation from the president’s Senior Media Aides, Garba Shehu who described the former president as Commander- In- Chief of Dividers of Nigerians.
Obasanjo according to NNPP, is not a Saint but is an Elder-stateman who can not continue to watch the disturbing trend of killings, arising from high level of insecurity in the country.
The party asked all stakeholders in the Nigeria project, to unite and salvage the nation from imminent Collapse.
NNPP tasked the Buhari administration to fullfil its campaign promises to Nigerians by tackling the insecurity, fixing the nation’s four refineries for them to function optimally, creating jobs for teeming unemployed graduates and addressing the issue of increase in electricity tariff for people to enjoy stable power supply.
The party described Obasanjo’s administration between 1999 and 2007 as visionary, saying the government during the period laid-back a solid foundation for the economy for the subsequent administration of Umar Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan by ensuring that the Nigeria’s rising foreign debt profile to creditors were written-off.
NNPP insisted that Nigerians would not continue to stop talking in face of bad leadership, rising foreign debt profile and collapse of the economy.
